Case study · Owned project

Shot & Scale: from a new website to three qualifying sales in two months

I built Shot & Scale as my own affiliate website for home espresso enthusiasts. Starting with a new site, I organised its content around practical buying decisions and developed a path from useful guidance to relevant product recommendations.

Within two months, the site generated three qualifying sales.

Business model

Affiliate content focused on espresso equipment

The starting point

A new site, a clear niche and useful content

Shot & Scale needed a website, a clear niche and content that could help a reader make a decision. I focused on the questions home baristas ask when choosing equipment, including budget, compatibility and whether a product fits their setup.

The work

What I did

01

Built the website and organised the content

Created the website and structured its content around espresso equipment and practical guides. Organised navigation so readers could move from a topic to a relevant guide or product comparison.

02

Developed buying guides around specific needs

Worked on content that helps readers choose equipment for their setup. One example was a low-profile espresso scale guide, where fit, product options and a clear choose-or-skip explanation helped make the information useful.

03

Improved the path between related guides

Added routes between related scale articles and the Gear Reviews hub, helping readers find the next relevant comparison instead of reaching the end of a page without a clear next step.

04

Refined search-facing and answer-focused copy

Updated page titles, SEO descriptions and FAQs on selected content. Used clear headings and practical explanations to answer specific questions within the page.

05

Added and checked affiliate links

Connected relevant recommendations to Amazon affiliate links and checked the links in updated content. The goal was to make the next action easy to find once readers had enough information to decide.

06

Managed the launch and ongoing work

Organised the website and content tasks into a continuing project. Prepared supporting promotional assets and a publishing plan, alongside improvements to the site itself.

Outcome

The result

Shot & Scale reached three qualifying sales within two months of the new website project. It was an early commercial milestone and gave me a live business to continue developing.

The result reflects the project as a whole. It does not establish that a particular search ranking, article or promotional channel caused the sales.

Takeaway

Why this project matters to my client work

Building my own project required planning, implementation, checking details and continuing after launch. Those same habits shape how I manage automation builds and podcast projects: define the work, organise the handoffs and improve the process as evidence comes in.
